Released on May 3, this catchy Punjabi track, which features the lyrics “Gaddiyan Uchiya Rakhiya,” which translates to “Keeping the cars up” but is often interpreted figuratively as “We have high-end cars,” has resonated with listeners in unexpected ways. “The lyrics were inspired by a desire to celebrate life, success, and the thrill of living life to the fullest,” says Riar Saab. “It’s about more than just cars; it’s about aspirations and the feeling of achieving something great.”
“The response has been overwhelming,” Riar Saab admits. “I am very grateful for the support and affection shown to the song by my fans. Social media has transformed the music business. You don’t need big budgets or a whole machinery behind you to blow up a song. Sometimes one viral moment can instantly bring so much recognition.”
Bollywood Actor Vicky Kaushal Lent a Hand Through Social Media
The song’s popularity soared even higher when Bollywood actor Vicky Kaushal posted a reel on Instagram, grooving to the beats of Obsessed. “Kudos to Vicky Paaji for his incredible performance on my song. It helped amplify the track,” says Riar Saab. “It was my most popular song before the video [shared by Kaushal]. But, after Vicky Paaji’s video, the song picked up and never ceased. His support has played a crucial role in making the track what it is today.”
The song’s viral success has also led to increased interest in Riar Saab’s other music. “People have even discovered and loved my other songs, thanks to the reel by Vicky Kaushal,” he notes. “It’s incredible how one viral moment can shine a light on your entire body of work.”
With the success of Gaddiyan Uchiya Rakhiya, Riar Saab is now looking towards the future with a sense of excitement and anticipation. “I am thrilled by the prospect of working in Bollywood and creating memorable music for films,” he shares. “I grew up consuming a lot of Hindi and regional cinema, and I’d love to contribute to the film industry.”
The 23-year-old singer is eager to explore new horizons and collaborate with other artists in the industry. “There’s so much talent out there, and I want to learn from the best and bring something fresh to the table,” he says. “I hope to work with Vicky Kaushal someday. His support has been incredible, and it would be an honor to collaborate with him on a project.”
Riar Saab’s story is a testament to the power of social media and its ability to turn dreams into reality. “I knew the song would do well the moment it was ready,” he recalls. “I got the feeling that Abhijay and I had made a hit number, but we couldn’t have predicted this kind of success.
