Mirzapur 3 Song Review: Indian rapper Raga’s new track ‘Gandi Bimari’ in Mirzapur 3 conveys the gritty essence of the power struggle, bloodshed, and betrayal rampant in the web series. Launched on Amazon Prime Videos on June 30, 2024, the music video has garnered nearly 650,019 views to date.

The heavy, pulsating track was sung and written by Gen-Z artist Ravi Mishra, aka Ravi, while talented music director Anshuman Lehri, aka Wamp, directed the music. The lyrics fervently complement the actual storyline of Mirzapur 3, helping audiences visualize the close association of the lyrics with actual plot progress.

The tone set in the initial lines of the song is anti-climactic and announces the arrival of the new king of Mirzapur, the underdog Guddu Pandit. The most repeated line in the song “Ee Gaddi Ki Gandi Bimari” points to the brutal and gore-filled struggle done by the former king of Mirzapur, ‘Kaleen Tripathi’, and the new underdog in town, ‘Guddu Pandit’.

Anyone who has seen the last two seasons of Mirzapur knows that despite the side plots, the main obsession of the characters remains to take control of Mirzapur by any means necessary. Until now, the “Gaddi’ (seat) was in antagonist Kaleen Tripathi’s hands, but now there’s a new challenger in town, Guddu Pandit.

The track essentially announces the arrival of a new king, who has defeated the former king and now reigns supreme. In addition, several lines like ‘Shuru majboori mein kiye the par ab maza aane laga bohot humein’ talk about the initial entry of Guddu into the murky, crime-filled world of Mirzapur in search of recognition, but now he has begun to enjoy the bloodshed as long as it takes him to the throne. The hardcore lyrics of the song ‘Gandi Bimari’ highlight the struggle of Guddu Pandit against the ‘Tripathi family’, as well as the final destination of his journey—the coveted ‘gaddi’ (seat) of Mirzapur.

Raga’s powerful lyrics pit listeners in the middle of the brutal power struggle in the series while making sure that they side with the underdog, Guddu Pandit. Additionally, the lyrics, “Bharosa ni kisi pe, Aur na kisi se banti humaari’, point out that Guddu, having gained control of Mirzapur, now has to keep his guard up forever.

The powerful position also attracts powerful enemies, who oftentimes pose as friends. This makes ‘Trust’ leave the picture altogether, as any signs of ‘Trust’ will be interpreted as ‘Weakness’ by the opponents. Regardless of the conclusion, the lyrics point towards the frivolous nature of power, money, and friendships, which may change sides at any time. While the song has been made in retrospect of the fictional ‘Mirzapur’, it is a brutal truth of today’s India, if not the world.

In addition to the raw lyrics and intense power struggle featured in the song, the transcendental beats and drops help the Gen-Z crowd vibe better with the song, while the cutscenes from Mirzapur help visualize the lyrics and their association with the scenes.

The lines ‘Kal gaddi ke waaris ko maare the, thi jiski bhi kal ab wo gaddi humaari’, point towards another crucial change in the series Mirzapur that viewers witnessed at the end of season 2. The last scene of the second season showed the attack by Guddu Pandit’s gang on the Tripathi’s while they were busy at the funeral of ‘Bauji’ aka Satyanand Alaknand Tripathi, the patriarch of the Tripathi’s.

The attack claimed Munna’s life, while the gangster from Jaunpura, Sharad Shukla, managed to flee with an injured Kaleen Tripathi. Given Guddu Pandit’s biblical clashes with Munna Tripathi, the lyrics by Raga in “Gandi Bimari” immortalizes the famed conclusion of the once-favored “Munna Tripathi,” who dies before mounting the throne, leaving the “Gaddi” unprotected for Guddu to seize at long last.

In addition to glorifying the power obsession for the control of Mirzapur, Raga’s innovative new beat, in association with the proceedings of the famed web series, highlights the frugality of human life and values when a great fortune is at stake. The gritty, high-power, and high-intensity beats have easily conquered audiences and will remain to do so as long as Mirzapur’s “Gaddi” remains unconquered.
