New Delhi: A new soundtrack named “Chaawat” from Akshay Kumar’s upcoming film “Sarfira” has just overtaken many current chartbusters doing the rounds on the internet, crossing over 4 million YouTube views since its release just two days ago. Voiced by Bollywood legend Shreya Ghosal, the track features a distinct Maharashtrian vibe that holds up very well thanks to intense dhol beats and the overall hype created by the initial trailer released on YouTube.

The music produced by Indian music composer, actor, producer, and playback singer G. V. Prakash Kumar has many audiences anticipating yet another blockbuster from Akshay Kumar since his action/thriller film “Sooryavanshi” (2020). The film is a remake of the 2020 Tamil blockbuster “Soorarai Pottru,” starring Suriya and Paresh Rawal, and has been produced by Abudantia Entertainment Studios.

The main soundtrack album has been composed by G.V. Prakash Kumar, Tanishk Bagchi, and Suhit Abhyankar, while the lyrics were written by Manoj Muntashir, Shloke Lal, and Tanishk Bagchi. With over seven tracks in the film, the current streaming time for all the tracks combined is nearly 21:30 minutes. Released under the “Times Music” label, the project also marks G. V. Prakash Kumar’s first collaboration with Hindi action star Akshay Kumar.

The first track of the film “Maar Udi” (The Spirit of Sarfira) has been lyricized by Manoj Muntashir, while the music has been directed by G. V. Prakash Kumar and embodies the madness and confluence of Tamil and Maharashtrian beats that are well accompanied by the melodious voices of singers Yadu Krishnan, Sugandh Shekar, Haston Rodrigues, and Abhijit Rao. Standing at 1:23 minutes, the track features the youthful innocence and surprising hardships that await every individual residing in India of the past. The uncertainty of life, the fragility of happiness, trust, and aspirations for reaching new heights is what any audiophile will feel upon listening to this beautiful track.

The second track, “Khudaya,” is an ode to God for guiding the hand of a hardworking individual who dares to dream big, not just for his own sake but for his fellow men and women as well. Lyricized by Manoj Muntashir and voiced by Sagar Bhatia, Neeti Mohan, and Suhit Abhyankar, the track lasts 3:6 minutes. The music has been directed by Suhit Abhyankar and remains the only song in the film with a shred of spirituality.

The third track, “Saree Ki,” has been lyricized, directed, and sung by Tanishk Bagchi, who does a wonderful job of embodying the first solo-themed song of the entire film “Sarfira” (2024). Bagchi’s melodious voice has struck many chords close to home for audiences, with many pointing out the confluence of Bengali, Maharashtrian, and Tamil music at one point or another.

The fourth track, “De Taali,” was lyricized by Shloke Lal and embodies the spirit of initial success among surmountable hardships. Lasting 2:32 minutes, both the music composition and singing were handled by Tanishk Bagchi, who does yet another amazing job of making the song noteworthy for audiophiles across the nation. The sound of success accompanied by silver screen developments is bound to win over audiences across cinema halls across the nation.

The fifth track, “Chaawat,” was released just a day prior, has already garnered more than 3 million views across YouTube, and has currently found a place in Spotify’s most trending songs of the week list. The lyrical composition was done by Manoj Muntashir, while G. V. Prakash Kumar handled the music composition and BGM (background music). Sung by veteran singer Shreya Ghosal, the song embodies the Maharashtrian background in which the movie is set. Lasting at 4:12 minutes, it is the longest song in the film as well as on the entire soundtrack.

The sixth soundtrack, named “Dhokha,” as the name suggests, means cheating and comprises themes of fraud or cheating. While most audiophiles will come across the song expecting a wave of retaliation, the track simply sets forth the idea of reconciliation and moves past the heartbreak expected by audiences. Lyrics by Manoj Muntashir and music directed by G. V. Prakash Kumar. The song has been voiced by a veteran artist of India’s rap world, Mika Singh, and lasts about 3:29 minutes.

The seventh and last soundtrack, “Yeh Kahani,” is reminiscent of the very themes of love, success, aspirations, and goodwill the film had begun with. Lyricized by Manoj Muntashir and music directed by G. V. Prakash Kumar, the last track is the second longest song in the entire film after “Chaawat” and lasts at 3:55 minutes. Voiced by Carnatic music vocalist Saindhavi, the last track of the film is a reminder of the hopes, aspirations, and dreams common to every middle-class Indian who dares to dream for the sake of others.

The recently released song “Chaawat” from Akshay Kumar’s upcoming film “Sarfira” has garnered over 3 million views on YouTube since its release just two weeks ago. The majority of the soundtracks comprising the film have been composed by Tamil actor, song-producer, and lyricist G. V. Prakash Kumar, who also handled the initial production of the Tamil original “Soorarai Pottru” (2020), which starred Tamil superstars Suriya, Aparna Balamurali, and Paresh Rawal in lead roles.
