20 Schools Compete in Greenlawns’ Megh Malhar Music Fest, Showcasing Young Talent and Musical Mastery

New Delhi: 20 schools feature in Greenlawns’ Megh Malhar Music Fest, a display of youthful talent, and musical genius Greenlawns High School, through its scintillating cultural activities, played host to the most-awaited inter-school music competition, Megh Malhar 2024. This mega event saw the participation of 20 schools from around the region. Being an ode to music in the true spirit, the function was conceptualized and structured to surmount boundaries and bring people together on one common platform—the universal language of melody and rhythm.

The program commenced with an inaugural address by Leslee Lewis, a very known personality in Indian music, who works in independent and film music. Lewis set the tempo for the day right with highly thoughtful and enriching words on the role of music in education and development. He ushered in that element of excitement and inspiration for these young participants, who are all set to discharge their talents.

As the event progressed, it turned into acrobatics of some sort as far as competition in music is concerned. In this event, students from the participating schools performed various shows across a wide variety of genres ranging from traditional to modern. Each school added its flavor to the performances in terms of creativity and diversity which characterized the young musicians.

The guest panel included famous Bollywood Music Producer Jagdish Lalwani, known for hit songs like “Tum Bin”, “Koi Fariyaad”, and “Sandese Aate Hain.” He looked just the right judge to do justice in this event, with his big stature in this industry. Joining him was musician and artist Ankit Goyal, known for his versatility and deep understanding of music. Evaluation of all the performances given the high caliber of talent that was on display was not easy, the judges found.

It was some hours of zealous competition when the results were declared, and one could sense the pulse in the auditorium. P.G. Garodia School championed Megh Malhar 2024 with first position for an act that etched its indelible mark on the minds of the judges and the audience, vocals, instrumentation, and stage presence combined in one way that made them incomparable.

The second prize was won by Lodha World School for a technically sound performance, emotionally full of feel. Their musicianship was worth commendation, and they earned high praise from the judges for their imaginative approach to the competition.

Third came the Children’s Academy, Ashok Nagar, whose performance proved no less scintillating. They must have put in great amounts of dedication and toil into the practice and thus turned out a deserving contender in this most prestigious competition.

Apart from these overall rankings by schools, individual talents were also noted. Poorna Mallya from P.G. Garodia School managed to take first place in solo singing. Her powerful voice and passionate delivery received very good responses from the judges and audiences alike, and she walked home amid well-deserved accolades. Sarthak Kavthekar from Lodha World School came in second solo for his vocal range and sense of musical feel.

This competition, Megh Malhar 2024—Not for Victory but Celebration of Music and Young Talent, worked to provide students with a platform where they could present their ideas through songs, integrate themselves with other children from different schools, and create links to make new friends.
